Glacier Symphony Orchestra and Chorale has prepared a rich and nostalgic program this holiday season with performances of the holiday classics Handel’s “Messiah” and Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker” throughout December.

Handel’s “Messiah” will be performed on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 7 at 3 p.m.

“The Nutcracker” with the San Diego Ballet will be performed on Saturday, Dec. 13 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and Sunday, Dec.14 at 1 p.m. Before each holiday performance and during intermission, Santa Claus will be in the lobby to take Christmas photos with families.

Tickets for GSOC’s holiday performances can be purchased at glaciersymphony.org. Performances take place at the Wachholz College Center on the campus of Flathead Valley Community College.

Handel’s “Messiah” is a pillar of the choral and symphonic Christmas tradition, celebrating the prophecy, birth, and life of Christ. The symphony will perform this masterwork with four accomplished guest soloists: Andrea Baker, soprano; Sarah Coit, alto; Andrew Surrena, tenor; and Harrison Hintzsche, bass. Complete with the audience favorite hallelujah chorus sing-along, attendees can expect a classical celebration that rings in the holiday season.

The symphony is once again partnering with the San Diego Ballet and local dance studios to present the only professional, live-orchestra performance of “The Nutcracker” in the Flathead Valley.

As one of the most recognizable and nostalgic holiday productions, guests will experience richly decorated sets, bright orchestral sound, and pristine ballet, all expertly crafted by musicians, cast, and crew. Alongside the San Diego Ballet cast, the performance highlights dancers from studios across the Flathead Valley, an initiative led and organized by Northwest Ballet School & Company.
