Helping Hands, an organization that’s been connecting individuals to resources and services that will aid them in moving forward and enriching the lives of the residents of Lake County and the Flathead Reservation for two decades, has added a new initiative this season: The Holiday Hands Campaign.

“Over the years, Helping Hands has been able to build a strong network of supporters whose generosity allows us to aid people with emergency situations and other needs,” said Helping Hands executive director Jennifer Rolfsness.

Along with addressing urgent situations, the Helping Hands program partners on a wide range of services including the Young Child Wellness Council, the Push Play Project, Backpacks for Bundles, Suds of Love, the Holiday Giving Program, and the Backpack Project. The team has also worked on community dinners, training for early childhood providers, capacity building services, back to school programs, and the annual Women for Wellness Health Fair.

According to Rolfsness, the Helping Hands board of directors and staff believe this new holiday campaign will help them continue to give back to the community. Current board members include President Eleanor Vizcarra, Mary Driscoll, Aaron Fulwiler, Lisa Grainey, Kate Stinger, Jeremy Lee, George Simpson and Toni Whealon.

“The Holiday Hands Campaign enables us to keep it local,” said Rolfsness. “All proceeds go right back into the community.”

Holiday Hands will host giving buckets at locations beginning the day after Thanksgiving through Dec. 21. Buckets will be staffed by volunteers at Murdoch’s in Polson, Ronan Harvest Foods and Pablo Family Foods. Along with these stations, onsite Holiday Hands donation buckets will be at Glacier, First Interstate, Valley and Eagle banks.

“Holiday Hands is an important way to bring people together with a common vision,” Rolfsness said. “We invite individuals, groups, and businesses to consider signing up as volunteers … many hands make the work easier.”
