Bigfork turns in podium, pile of PRs at Thompson Falls Invite

Bigfork packed a productive afternoon into the rolling fairways of River's Bend Golf Course on Friday, earning a girls’ podium finish and a stack of personal bests at the Thompson Falls Invite.

The Valkyries put a scorer in the front pack as Toren Wenz ran a composed, even-mile effort to place fourth in 20:52.42. Hadley Nollan backed her with a strong top-25, crossing 21st in 22:31.14. The middle of Bigfork’s lineup did its job, with three more finishers inside 26 minutes: Mickie Anderson clocked a personal best 24:59.87 for 51st, Shannon Woll followed in 25:14.40 (53rd) and Naomi Elwell added another PR at 25:34.64 (57th) to close the Valks’ scoring five. Depth continued with PRs from Caton Fought (26:16.65, 63rd) and a steady run by Colbie Sullivan (26:25.93, 65th). Against a field topped by a 1-2 Polson sweep and a clustered Columbia Falls group, Bigfork’s 1-5 spread of 4:42 showed the kind of compression that plays well as championship races near.

The Vikings answered with their own headliner in the boys’ race. Noah Hamilton-Dixon surged in the final mile to place 11th in a lifetime-best 17:39.71, punctuating a top-end finish on a day when the front of the field moved fast—Polson’s winner stopped the clock at 16:11. Nic Gustavson kept Bigfork inside the front third, taking 16th in 18:10.91 before the Vikings’ pack arrived in short order: Otto Schurke (19:24.76, 46th), Fisher Sliter (20:20.07, 70th) and Bradley Wood (21:03.14, 89th) closed the scoring. Wood’s performance was another PR, and Bigfork’s 1-4 gap sat at a tidy 2:40, with a 1-5 spread of 3:23—signs the group is tightening when it matters.
