Bulldogs split week with sweep of Browning, loss to Polson

The Whitefish volleyball team had a split record last week — flashing dominance at homecoming with a sweep of Browning, after losing to a polished Polson squad two nights earlier.
On Thursday, Whitefish cruised past Browning in straight sets, 25-3, 25-13, 25-11, in front of a homecoming crowd. The Bulldogs controlled every phase of the match, racking up 24 aces, 26 kills, and 22 assists while holding the visitors to single digits in both kills and assists.
Allie Shors paced Whitefish with 10 kills, 12 assists, and four aces in a complete performance. Annabelle Barrie added six aces and Eleanor Archie turned in a team-high 12 digs. Camry Kelch chipped in three kills and five assists, while Stella Frisbee was active at the net with three kills and a block. Aubrey Talbot and Sol Holmquist each contributed three aces.
Head coach Addy Connelly praised her team’s energy in the sweep.
“Homecoming sweep of Browning,” she said. “Girls mixed it up and took care of business.”
Earlier in the week, however, the Bulldogs ran into a sharp Polson team that left little margin for error in a 25-11, 25-17, 25-17 decision. Whitefish was limited to 19 kills, with Kelch leading the way at six. Shors added four kills and 12 assists, while Frisbee was a bright spot at the net with four blocks.
Defensively, Archie finished with eight digs and Shors added seven, but Polson’s attack, led by Embree Bird and McKenna Corley, proved too balanced. Polson tallied 28 kills as a team and took command early in each set.
Despite the setback, the Bulldogs bounced back in emphatic fashion against Browning to even their week and improve their overall record. At 3-3, Whitefish sits near the middle of the Northwest A standings with plenty of season left to climb.
