COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Alexander runs new personal best at WWU Bill Roe Invite

I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. Connor Alexander, Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country
A 2022 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Connor ran to a new personal best 8,000-meter time of 25 minutes, 31.6 seconds (5:08 per mile) to finish 46th out of 146 runners at the Western Washington University Bill Roe Invitational held this past Saturday at Hovander Homestead Park in Ferndale. The former Badger standout was the No. 2 runner for the Warriors, which finished ninth out of 12 scoring teams.
Camille Ussher, Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country
A 2022 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Camille ran to a season-best 6,000-meter time of 23 minutes, 7.5 seconds (6:12 per mile) to finish 31st out of 96 runners at the Western Washington University Bill Roe Invitational. The former Lady Badger standout was the No. 2 runner for the Lady Warriors, which finished fifth out of nine scoring teams. Lewis-Clark State is idle until Saturday, Oct. 11 when they'll host the LC State Invitational.
Kimberly Lucas, University of Maine at Fort Kent Volleyball
A 2025 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Kimberly had a combined nine kills, two aces, four digs and two blocks, one solo and one assisted, in the Lady Bengals' recent double header against Fisher College (L 3-0, L 3-0). The former Lady Badger standout has a tied for team-high 52 kills across 27 sets played and has started in all seven matches so far this season for UMaine Fort Kent (2-5), which hosts St. Thomas University New Brunswick for a doubleheader on Thursday, Oct. 2 and travels to Southern Maine CC on Saturday, Oct. 4.
Rylie Kimball, Clark University Volleyball
A 2025 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Rylie posted a career-high three kills, her first collegiate ace, her first two collegiate digs, and a block assist in a recent 3-0 loss to Bowdoin College. The former Lady Badger standout also had her first career block assist in a recent 3-0 loss to Emerson College for Clark University (1-10), which hosts Worcester Polytechnic Institute and Connecticut College at the Kneller Athletic Center for a doubleheader on Saturday, Oct. 4.
