They just keep on winning.
Columbia Falls Wildcat Girls Soccer dominated Thompson Falls / Plains 10-0 on Tuesday, with Taylor Rodgers, Bella Mann, Evie Heitz, and Mila Johns each scoring twice, while Tatiana Raymond and Annika Johns added one apiece.
On Thursday, the Wildcats played their Homecoming contest against Bigfork and secured a 1-0 victory. Determined to improve on their last game with Bigfork that ended in a tie, the Wildcats wasted no time setting the tone. Riley Byrd netted the game’s only goal at the 14-minute mark off an assist from Onnikka Lawrence.
Columbia Falls fired off 26 shots on goal while their defense limited Bigfork to just 9 shots. Goalie Elaina Dorr made 4 saves to preserve the shutout, and Columbia Falls committed 5 fouls compared to Bigfork’s 11.
“The girls battled all game and we knew it was going to take a great effort from everyone. We created a lot of chances and were proud of how we performed at all three levels on the field. We will continue to work on making sure we finish our chances as we move forward here in the last few weeks of the season. Mila Johns, Riley Byrd, and Tatiana Raymond really controlled the midfield for us and they all deserve a lot of credit for helping us come away with that result,” said coach Thomas Clark.
Looking ahead, Columbia Falls will host Browning on Thursday and Libby on Saturday, both at Flip Darling Field.
“Yeah, we are excited to finish off our regular season on a strong note in front of our home crowd. We have such a strong group of players, and it’ll be fun to watch some of our younger players step into some bigger roles these next two games,” Clark said.
The Wildcats are set to face Whitefish on Oct. 7, after press time. In their previous meeting, Columbia Falls won 3-1.
“Last year, we were able to win against Whitefish in the last regular season game of the year and it gave us a lot of momentum heading into the postseason. We hope to have an equally strong performance this year. They are a really good young team and they will certainly present a lot of challenges for us. It’ll be an exciting game,” Clark said.
