Arlee distributes the football in win over Charlo
By BRANDON HANSEN For the Leader | Lake County Leader | UPDATED 10 months, 2 weeks AGO
Friday night turned into a showcase of offensive fireworks for the Arlee Warriors as they defeated their Lake County rival Charlo 46-8 in 8-man football action. The Warriors leaned heavily on quarterback Keelan Dupuis, who spread the ball around to a variety of targets and finished with five touchdown passes in the win.
After a scoreless opening quarter, Arlee (2-3) took control with a flurry of big plays through the air. Dupuis connected with Kade Dupuis-Pablo on a 3-yard scoring pass midway through the second to open the floodgates. Just two minutes later, the duo struck again, this time on a 30-yard touchdown connection.
Before halftime, Dupuis added his third touchdown toss of the quarter, hitting Danian Marceau from nine yards out to give Arlee an 18-0 lead.
The Warriors wasted little time adding to their lead in the third quarter. Dupuis found Dean Moran for an 18-yard touchdown pass, and Moran added the two-point conversion on a catch to extend the margin. Arlee then showed balance with its ground game, as running back Kade Dix powered in a 9-yard touchdown run to make it 32-0.
Charlo briefly swung momentum when defensive back Karson Cox picked off a pass and returned it 11 yards for the Vikings’ lone touchdown. Cox also ran in the conversion, cutting the deficit to 32-8 late in the third quarter.
But any hopes of a rally were quickly dashed in the final period. Dupuis dropped a 20-yard touchdown pass into the hands of Dix early in the fourth quarter, before capping the night with a 1-yard touchdown toss to Marceau that sealed the 46-8 final.
The hallmark of Arlee’s victory was the distribution of the football. Dupuis connected with four different receivers for touchdowns, showcasing the Warriors’ depth on the perimeter. Dupuis-Pablo was a steady threat with two scores, while Marceau also caught a pair of touchdown passes. Dix found the end zone twice — once on the ground and once through the air — while Moran contributed both a touchdown and a two-point conversion.
The victory pushes Arlee to 2-3 on the season, while Charlo drops to 1-4 on the year.
