Oct. 2, 1975 – NEW CITY PARKING LOT
The new City Parking lot will open to public use Monday at a monthly reserved parking rate of $7.50, 50 cents for day use. Public Works Superintendent Jack Leckner said automatic gates will operate with cards provided to reserve parking customers.

L-P LAYS OFF 60
The Louisiana-Pacific Lumber Co. laid off about 60 employees Monday at its Chilco and Priest River mills. Plant manager Dave Miller said the lay-offs were necessary due to a falling demand for lumber. Starting today the mills will operate only one shift, and Miller said he wasn’t sure how long the lay-offs will continue. “It all depends on the market, which will probably not pick up again until next spring.”

GOLDSBERRY NEW PENNEY’S MANAGER
Dick Goldsberry, raised in Boise, is the new manager of the Sandpoint J.C. Penney store, replacing Jim Tinsman, who has accepted a promotion to manage a company store in Bozeman, Montana. Goldsberry comes to Sandpoint from Concord, Calif., where he was personnel manager at one of the company’s largest stores. Goldsberry and his wife, Carol, have six sons.

GIRL SCOUT CADETTES
New Girl Scout Cadettes who advanced from the Junior level at a recent “Bridging” ceremony are Peggy Wilkinson, Cheryl Fitzpatrick and Lynda White. Cadette scouts are 12 – 14 years of age.

Oct. 2, 1950 – PAUL DELAMARTER HONORED
Paul Delamarter, leader of the Kiwanis sponsored boy scout troop, was honored with an award for four years of faithful and effective work. Delamarter is giving up the troop now, having been called to military service, after leading the troop to be the best in north Idaho, its members the highest honored.

WEBB IS RECALLED TO ACTIVE SERVICE
Edwin D. Webb, a member of the army reserve who has been recalled to active duty, is now at Fort Ord, Calif. He served for three years in WWII and is the first Clark Fork man to leave for active duty in the present war. A brother, Sgt. Don P. Webb, is now with the Sixth Marine division in Korea. They are the sons of Mrs. Belle Webb of Clark Fork.

FAREWELL PARTY AT CRANDELL’S
Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Crandell were hosts at a dinner Wednesday in honor of their son, Doyle, who left Thursday for the army. Canasta was played.

HELP OFFERED WIVES OF MEN IN SERVICE
The wives of men entering active military service who need or desire employment will receive special consideration and all the possible assistance in finding suitable employment if they will call at the Sandpoint office of the Idaho state employment service, Kenneth S. Kirking, manager, stated today.
