Since opening in April of 2024, Maas Designs has carved out a niche in Boundary County by offering precision engraving with a personal touch. The result? Custom gifts, branded products and keepsakes that connect craftsmanship with meaning for the community.

Owner Tiffany Maas said the business grew out of her love for creativity and her desire to help others.

“I started Maas Designs out of the pure love of creativity and wanting to help people,” she said. “If I can create things for my family out of joy, I can create out of joy for other people.”

At first, Maas focused on engraving household items and jewelry, such as cutting boards, tumblers, necklaces and other keepsakes. Soon, her offerings grew to include items like shirts, hoodies, banners and business cards, and more. Today, Maas Designs also carries a line of school swag, giving students and families a way to show pride in their community.

“I like to design things for people,” Maas said.

Though the company is run almost entirely by Maas, her family plays a crucial role. Her husband helps when needed and often works simply to spend time with her. Her children have also shown interest; her daughter is fond of helping with projects and her son is drawn to the idea of possibly starting his own engraving business one day.

The family’s resilience has been tested in ways Maas never anticipated. In June, two of her four children were seriously injured when her son’s Mini Cooper was struck by a semi. The children were airlifted to Spokane by Life Flight for treatment. Both have made near full recoveries, returned to school, and are doing well.

Maas said the ordeal has reshaped her priorities.

“The accident has pushed me to want to be more involved,” she said. “When I was working full-time, I was less involved. Owning my own business, I can make time.”

That personal motivation, combined with steady growth, is shaping the company’s next steps. While orders are currently available online, Maas is working toward her goal of a physical storefront where customers can browse products and place orders in person. This goal is not far away, as a building is currently under construction.

The mission of Maas Designs is to provide customers with top-notch engraving services that exceed expectations. “We believe that every piece we create tells a story and adds a personal touch to any gift or branding solution.”
