Lady Pirates continue to roll in conference play

The Lady Pirates kept their strong start rolling Tuesday night, dispatching Whitefish in straight sets, 25-11, 25-17, 25-17, to remain undefeated in Northwestern A volleyball action. 

Polson (4-0, 5-1) used a balanced attack at the net to overpower the Bulldogs (1-2, 3-3). Embree Bird paced the offense with nine kills and three aces, while Mckenna Corley added eight kills and three blocks. Logan McCrea chipped in six kills and joined Corley and Opal Nash in controlling the net — Nash also tallied three blocks to help keep Whitefish hitters in check. 

Setter Zailee Hewankorn guided the offense with 14 assists while Rylee Taylor-Jefferson added two assists and helped steady the Pirates’ rotation. 

Defensively, Polson matched Whitefish with 36 digs, led by Bird’s 11 and Aleysia Black’s seven. Eliza Todd added five digs along with two kills and a block. Anniston Flynn anchored the back row with four digs. 

Whitefish was led by Camry Kelch’s six kills and Stella Frisbee’s four blocks, but the Bulldogs struggled to generate consistent offense against Polson’s front line.
