PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Bonners Ferry has a solid showing at the Thompson Falls Invitational

Bonners Ferry finished in 9th place for the women and 10th for the men in the 5,000 meter varsity event in the Thompson Falls Invitational at Rivers Bend Golf Course in Montana on Sept. 27.
Sophomore Kylie Calderone medaled for the third week in a row, finishing in 9th place out of 79 athletes, with a time of 21 minutes, 31 seconds. Junior Gia Roemer (31st, 23:41), sophomore Cheyenne Schutte (49th, 24:50), sophomore Kya Alderman (52nd,25:10) and freshman Kinzie Bradley (77th, 31:20) were the five finishers for the Lady Badgers.
Schutte and Alderman achieved season bests, while Bradley finished with a PR (Personal Record) for the second week in a row.
In the boys 5,000 meters, freshman Brecken Miller finished 31st out 114 entries with a time of 18 minutes 58 seconds, setting a PR. Freshman Jonathan Bollschweiler (32nd, 18:59) finished just one place behind. Senior Micah Thomson (50th, 19:29) ran a season best and finished one spot ahead of freshman Gordon Woelfle (51st, 19:31), who set a PR for the second week in a row. Sophomore Brock Tuma ran a third straight PR (90th, 21:05) and freshman Tyler Cordle (113th, 24:06) rounded out Bonners Ferry’s entries in the competition.
The team will run at Ben Castro Invite on Thursday, Oct. 2 before running at the Inland Empire Championships on Oct. 4. After a bye, the track and field team has 4A District Championships at home on Oct. 23.
