Libby volleyball squad drops two matches

Ronan hands Libby home loss in four sets

The Libby Loggers showed flashes of strong play but couldn’t sustain momentum in a 3-1 loss to Ronan on Saturday in a Northwestern A volleyball matchup.

Ronan took the first set 25-18 before Libby battled back to even the match with a 25-17 victory in the second. The Loggers kept the pressure on in the third, but Ronan edged them 25-23 and then closed the door with a 25-16 win in the fourth.

Libby was active at the net, finishing with 30 kills. Rylee Delmas led the way with six, while Maddie Willis, Leah Rusdal, Bella Meyer and Ayssa Anderson each added four. Meyer provided an efficient spark, converting at a .667 hitting clip.

The Loggers’ blocking game stood out as well, recording 14 total blocks. Rusdal was dominant in the middle, tallying six solo blocks and two assists. Willis chipped in with four block assists.

Defensively, Meyer anchored the back row with a match-high 38 digs. Tessa Purdy added 10, and several others contributed in double figures. Delmas also set the pace on offense with 17 assists, while Augie Bailey tallied 10.

The loss drops Libby to 1-10 on the season.

Libby swept by Eureka in road volleyball match

The Libby Loggers put together a strong push in the final set but couldn’t extend the match Tuesday night, falling in straight sets to Lincoln County in Eureka, 25-12, 25-15, 28-26.

After struggling to find rhythm in the opening frames, Libby rallied late and nearly stole the third. 

Libby finished with nine kills as a team, led by Rylee Delmas with four. Leah Rusdal and Augie Bailey chipped in two apiece, while Maddie Willis added one. At the net, the Loggers were more effective defensively, combining for eight blocks. Willis led that effort with four block assists, and Rusdal and Ashlenn James each added three.

The back row kept Libby in the match during the third set surge. Bella Meyer anchored the defense with 15 digs, while Bailey added 10 and Tessa Purdy collected seven. Delmas distributed five assists, and Sidnie Thompson contributed two.

Libby returned to action Thursday evening, hosting Whitefish. Saturday, the Loggers play at Bigfork.
