It was a Homecoming weekend sweep for the Libby boys and girls soccer teams as they each beat Browning, 10-0.

Colby Iliff led the boys team with a hat trick. The Loggers also got two goals from Victor Lopes Pimenta, including one on a penalty kick. Single goals by Jonathon Cano, Zander Gassman,  Colter Anderson, Kale Hall and Ryan Rank.

Assisting on goals were Iliff, Cano and Hall.

In the girls game, sophomore Zoey Bernall scored five goals in the first half as Libby took a 6-0 lead. Cadence Rebo netted the other.

Whitefish sweeps Libby in soccer doubleheader

The Libby soccer teams ran into one of Class A’s strongest programs Sept. 25, dropping a pair of road matches to Whitefish.

In the girls’ contest, the Lady Loggers were pinned back for much of the evening in a 3-0 loss. Whitefish dominated possession, controlling nearly every touch and outshooting Libby 14-0. The Bulldogs also piled up 19 corner kicks while allowing none.

Despite the pressure, Libby’s back line and goalkeeper kept the game close through the first half. Keeper play was especially key, as the Lady Loggers tallied 11 saves to keep Whitefish from running away early.

Whitefish finally broke through in the 33rd minute when Neva Sliman scored off an Anna Boysen feed. After halftime, the Bulldogs put the match away as Atley Bingham scored in the 49th minute and Sage Ordway converted from a Taylor Dorvall corner in the 52nd.

In the boys’ matchup, Libby struck back quickly after conceding, but Whitefish’s firepower proved too much in an 8-1 Bulldogs win.

Rowan Perkins opened the scoring in just the second minute, and teammate Henry Barbieri followed with a pair of goals by the sixth minute. Libby answered less than a minute later, when Kale Hall found the net off an assist from Jonathan Cano, cutting the deficit to 3-1.

That was as close as the Loggers would get. Whitefish’s Kyler Jonson recorded a hat trick, while Tyler Larkin and Graysen Rembaugh also scored. Rembaugh and Barbieri each notched multiple assists, keeping the Bulldogs’ attack flowing.

The Loggers managed just two shots on goal, compared to 12 for Whitefish. JJ Fosgate recorded four saves in net for Libby, while Whitefish keeper Ben Dow was tested just once.

Libby hosted Thompson Falls Tuesday. The boys team won 3-2 and the girls lost 2-0. Libby is set to play at Columbia Falls Saturday.
