PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Bonners Ferry Cross Country with a top performance at the Ben Castro Invitational

The Bonners Ferry women’s cross country finished in first place as a team, while the men were runners up at the Ben Castro Invite at Pinehurst Golf Course. 

In the women’s cross-country race, Bonners Ferry Sophomore Kylie Calderone finished in first place out of 26 athletes with a time of 20 minutes, 25 seconds. Junior Gia Roemer (5th, 22:23) and sophomore Cheyenne Schutte’s (9th, 23:26) strong races gave the lady badgers three entries in the top 10. Sophomores Kya Alderman (11th, 23:32), Abigail Huggins (17th, 26:32) and freshman Hailey Reeves (20th, 28:35) finished in the top 20. Freshman Kinzie Bradley (24th, 30:46) and sophomore Elle Sheets (25th, 31:02) rounded out the times for Bonners Ferry. 

For the men, Brecken Miller (3rd, 18:04) beat out his fellow Badger Jonathan Bollschweiler (4th, 18:06) by two seconds to claim 3rd place amongst 18 participants. Gordon Woelfle (8th, 18:56) Bonners Ferry also finished in the top ten. Brock Tuma (11th, 20:00) and Tyler Cordle (16th, 22:46) ran impressively. 

All five of the Bonners Ferry men’s cross-country team set personal records in the 5,000. 

The team will next run at the Inland Empire Championships on Oct. 4 before the 4A District Championships at home on Oct. 23.
