PREP ROUNDUP: Saints march into Wallace, win

• VOLLEYBALL

WALLACE — Senior Kate Clemens dished out a school-record 31 assists as the visiting Coeur du Christ Saints scored a reverse-sweep win over the Wallace Miners, 22-25, 18-25, 25-18, 25-20, 15-13 in nonleague play at Kirby Krulitz Court. 

Espi Klocko had 30 digs for Coeur du Christ (7-4). Maddie Junkin added 19 kills, Angelica Ross eight kills and 17 digs for the Saints. 

“It was fun to have another match to five sets where we had to dig deep and come alive,” Coeur du Christ coach Natalie Kiefer said. “We had a sleepy first couple of sets and then had to turn things around. We had some players start to really demand the ball, which was so exciting to see. Kate had a great setting game and really got our hitters a lot of opportunities by jumping and being a part of the offense herself. Maddie and Angelica worked incredibly hard on the outside to put the ball down and end some long rallies. Espi not only covered a massive amount of court, but she served with ice in her veins. As a freshman, she doesn’t seem to get shaken by anything. Therese (Junkin), our other freshman on the court, played with a ton of confidence too.” 

For Wallace (9-4), Kylee Phillips had 10 kills, 19 digs and three aces, Khepri Wood six kills, Megan Hull 11 kills and 13 digs, Kayden Stutzke 18 assists, eight digs and six aces, Aubrey Birdsell 16 assists, 11 digs and three aces.  

On Tuesday, Coeur du Christ plays host to Mullan in North Star League play, and Wallace plays host to Lakeside in a Scenic Idaho Conference match.

Ferris 

POST FALLS — Sophomore Annabelle Tucker had 10 kills and two blocks as the Trojans swept the Saxons of the Greater Spokane League 25-13, 25-21, 25-23 at The Arena. 

Claire Ziegler added 15 assists and three aces for Post Falls (13-6). Mia Carr had 12 digs and five aces, Zuri Blood six kills, Lucy Carr 12 assists, Tiffany Foxx two blocks, Teresa Smith 11 digs. 

“We came out really strong tonight, but got a little sloppy in the second and third sets,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “Ferris started picking up a lot of our shots and made us work to finish it off in three.” 

KJ Jacobson had 16 assists, Piper Parftch 13 digs for Ferris (3-5). 

Post Falls travels to Meridian for the Rocky Mountain High tournament on Friday and Saturday.

ST. MARIES — The host Maniacs downed the Lumberjacks 25-22, 25-11, 25-21 in Central Idaho League play. 

St. Maries (1-13, 0-6 CIL) plays host to Moscow and Bonners Ferry in a tri-match Saturday.

PLUMMER — Tylah Lambert, one of seven players honored on senior night, had 17 assists, six aces, three kills and five digs as the host Knights beat the Warriors 25-13, 26-24, 25-23 in nonleague play at Ron Miller Court. 

Senior Kimberly Pluff added seven kills, 10 digs, three aces and two assists for Lakeside (11-1). Senior Rayna Schatz had seven kills, four digs, three aces and two blocks, sophomore Saydee Peone three kills and three digs, senior Izzy Kee three aces, senior Alberta Stensgar three digs, senior Cassidy Gorr five digs, sophomore Laila Charley three digs.  

“It was a happy senior night,” Lakeside coach Devyn Moore said. “Good win over the Warriors tonight.” 

“It was a fantastic game against Lakeside tonight,” Kootenai coach Elexus Moore-Rich said. “We lost but our girls gave them a run for their money in the last two sets.” 

Kootenai (2-9) travels to Clark Fork on Saturday. 

Lakeside visits Wallace on Tuesday in Scenic Idaho Conference play.

SPIRIT LAKE — Senior Amarijana Olivieri had 10 kills, seven digs and two aces as the host Tigers defeated the Jaguars 25-6, 25-7, 25-7 in nonleague play. 

Addie Archer added seven kills, 13 digs and three aces for Timberlake (7-8). Alicia Nield had eight aces, Willow Mattson 10 assists, Kaydence Edwards eight assists for the Tigers. 

Timberlake plays host to Bonners Ferry on Tuesday, looking to wrap up the Intermountain League title. 

Genesis Prep (2-10), which defeated Mullan on Wednesday night, travels to Clark Fork on Tuesday in Scenic Idaho Conference play.

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Orion Burns stopped all five shots for the Vikings in a win over the Bears on senior night under the lights at Viking Field. 

Junior Brett Johnson scored on an assist from senior Milo Griebel in the seventh minute for Coeur d’Alene (8-3-1), which hosts Lake City in Game 1 of the 6A District 1 best-of-3 series on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Viking Field. 

“Milo played a good cross and Brett made a deep run and found himself open near the back post and put one in,” Coeur d’Alene coach Robbie Harmelink said. “We didn’t establish as much continued control of the ball as we wanted, but were able to make the runs we wanted. We were able to pull out of a lull and get the clean sheet. I was proud of our back line and how they played.” 

Moscow (6-5-1) hosts Lakeland on Saturday.

“After a slow start, the boys locked in and took over,” Lake City coach Chaz Donovan said. “It was a great team effort. Everyone stepped up and made the most of their minutes.” 

Junior Reese Crawford had two assists for Lake City (6-5-1), which hosts Upper Columbia Academy of Spangle, Wash., on Monday.

RATHDRUM — Senior Huxley Hall scored two goals in the first half for the Bulldogs, who beat the Hawks in a 5A Inland Empire League match at Sunrise Rotary Field. 

“The first goal, our guy got tangled with their guy and they gave him a PK, which Huxley made,” Lakeland coach Nick Haynes said. “We were trying to mark Huxley out of the game, but he’s a really good player. It was nice to play them even in the second half, but it’s hard to come back on a team as good as that.”
