Cheers to manufacturing
Daily Inter-Lake | UPDATED 2 months AGO
October is recognized nationally as Manufacturing Month, a time to highlight the makers and producers who fuel local economies. Here in Northwest Montana, manufacturing isn’t limited to timber and heavy industry — it includes the breweries and distilleries that turn Montana grain, fruit and other ingredients into products that reflect our state’s character and creativity.
This month’s Insights focuses on those makers. In Coram, Glacier Distilling has spent 15 years building a lineup of spirits rooted in Montana-grown ingredients. Whitefish-based Spotted Bear Spirits continues that tradition while exploring new markets beyond our borders. And in Libby, Cabinet Mountain Brewing Co. has become “Libby’s living room,” proving that small businesses can help revitalize a downtown while creating gathering places for neighbors. These businesses are producing their craft with local ingredients while giving back to their industry and the communities that help them — and many others in the field — thrive across our region.
By spotlighting these stories, we celebrate not only the craft behind every bottle or pint but also the role these businesses play as employers, community anchors and contributors to Montana’s manufacturing landscape.
Thank you for reading, and for supporting the people and businesses who make Northwest Montana thrive. Next time you take a sip from your favorite locally crafted beverage, think about the field-to-glass process that sustains businesses across our region.
