Cats and Kats deliver shutouts on Senior Night

COLUMBIA FALLS — Senior Night was kind to the Cats and Kats Saturday, both of Columbia Falls’ soccer teams scoring shutout wins over Libby.
Taylor Rodgers had a hat trick as the Wildkats beat the Lady Loggers 7-0; Jackson Scholz then had three goals for the Wildcats in their 5-0 win.
Rodgers had two goals three minutes apart in the first half for the Kats (10-0-1). Two goals came from Mila Johns, and Onnika Lawrence and Riley Byrd both had a goal and an assist.
“It was a special night for our program to win the conference on Senior Night,” Wildkats’ coach Thomas Clark said. “Our five seniors — Elaina Dorr, Bella Mann, Taylor Rodgers, Mila Johns and Isla Alexander — have given so much to this program.”
“All four of our field player seniors got on the scoresheet tonight and Elaina set the school record for shutouts in a career with 16.

The Columbia Falls boys (10-1-0) also put up five goals after halftime.
Jack Harris scored twice before Scholz began his onslaught in the 57th minute.
“Tonight was senior night, and with the pressure of needing to win the game, our boys shined through and through,” Cats coach O’Brien Byrd said. “We made some important adjustments at halftime, and the boys went out and executed.”
