Ernie M. Jorgenson, 79

Ernie Melvin Jorgenson passed away Sept. 30, 2025, at the Idaho Veterans’ Home in Post Falls following a brief episode of pneumonia, a complication of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was born April 11, 1946, in Coeur d’Alene to Harry and Grace (Walker) Jorgenson.

Ernie lived most of his life in Coeur d’Alene, except for a three-year stint in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Ramstein AFB in Wiesbaden, Germany. He also lived in Las Vegas for one year before returning to Coeur d’Alene.

He graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1964 and attended North Idaho College.

Ernie married Karyl Bissell in 1978, and his beloved son, Brad, was born in 1980.

Ernie worked mostly in the beer and wine industry. He worked for LaVoie Distributing (later became Centennial Distributing) for 28 years and then for Odom Beverage for 15 years before retirement.

Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Karyl; his son, Brad; his brother, Daryl Jorgenson; his sister, Mariam Janusch; his brother-in-law, Wayne Tregear; his nephews, Barry Janusch (Arlene) and Nick Tregear (Jen); and his nieces, Shari McCallister (Paul), Katie Mattson (Brandon) and their families. Also, so many cherished life-long friends.

Ernie was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Grace, his brothers-in-law, Red Janusch and Frank Bissell, and his sisters-in-law, Linda Tregear and Nancy Vanek Jones.

At Ernie’s request, there will be no service. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
