CLARK FORK — Junior Peyton Chapman hauled in six passes for a career-high 121 receiving yards, junior Haylyn Ashford Brown added a career-high 12 tackles on defense as the Wampus Cats were blanked by the Eagles, a co-op of Nezperce and Highland schools, in a non-league contest held Saturday afternoon at Clark Fork High.

Junior quarterback Mateo Cruz was 9-for-19 passing for 146 yards for Clark Fork, which was coming off a three-week hiatus from action.

Sophomore Slater Kuther totaled 254 total yards — 114 rushing and 140 passing — and four total touchdowns for Lewis County, which led 38-0 at intermission and forced four turnovers — two fumbles and two interceptions — on the day.

Cruz and sophomore Jason Mayorga both had tackles for losses for Clark Fork (2-3), which returns to action this Friday when they host Wallace for a 1A North Star League homecoming matchup.

Porinchok, Redinger record first career interceptions in Priest River loss

COLFAX, Wash. — Senior Niki Porinchok returned his first career interception 48 yards for a touchdown, sophomore Layton Goins caught seven passes for a team-high 68 receiving yards and a touchdown as the Spartans were defeated by the Bulldogs by a 14-point margin in a non-league game held Friday at Colfax High.

Goins, who now has 300-plus receiving yards on the season, also rushed 12 times for 26 yards for Priest River, which trailed 26-12 after three quarter of play. Senior Nate Fegert added 66 rushing yards and a touchdown on 14 carries on the night.

On defense, sophomore Madden Redinger, who had a 19-yard catch on the other side of the ball, hauled in his first career interception. Senior Gavin Griesemer registered a career-high 12 tackles, including three for losses, while juniors Haiden Leach and Donovan Baldwin recorded eight tackles each. Goins and Fegert each had seven tackles for the Spartans, which had three turnovers — two interceptions and a fumble — in the loss.

Baldwin, Porinchok and senior Brady Hatten all had two tackles for losses apiece for Priest River (2-4), which has lost three straight and will look to rebound Friday when they head to Orofino for a 3A Central Idaho League matchup.
