Basin students benefit from Innovia Foundation scholarships

SPOKANE — The Innovia Foundation recently awarded $436,089 in scholarships to students throughout Eastern Washington and North Idaho for the 2025-26 school year, including seven Adams County students, according to an announcement from Innovia. Innovia manages over 30 scholarship programs on behalf of donors who have established funds to help students achieve their career and post-high school education goals. 


“In partnership with our generous donors, Innovia’s scholarship programs help transform the lives of students by making higher education more accessible,” Shelly O’Quinn, CEO of Innovia Foundation, wrote in the announcement. “Each year, we are proud to provide scholarship awards that make more possible for students across our region.” 


These Adams County students were among the 144 recipients: 


Willard and Patricia Hennings Scholarship: 

Alyssa Williams, Ritzville, Texas Tech University, $1,000. 

Brody Boness, Ritzville, Carroll College, $2,500. 

Camden Shaver, Ritzville, Washington State University, $1,000. 

David Hinkle. Ritzville. Washington State University, $1,000. 

Drake Gloyn .Washtucna. Washington State University, $1,000. 

Hannah Hille, Washtucna, Washington State University, $1,000. 

Zachary Klein, Ritzville, Oklahoma State University, $1,000. 


Mike and Linda Schrag Scholarship: 

David Hinkle, Ritzville, Washington State University, $2,000. 


David L. and Frances G. Ray Scholarship:

Zachary Klein, Ritzville, Oklahoma State University, $1,000.

Boys and Girls Club logo allegedly used in Moses Lake scam

MOSES LAKE — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin officials are warning people that scammers apparently are using the club’s logo and claiming to be affiliated with the organization. The scammers allegedly were soliciting money door to door along Third Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
