Braylyn Bayer, Weber State University Golf

A 2024 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Braylyn, playing as an independent, fired in a 2-under-par total gross 214 (73-72-69), a new 54-hole career-best, across three rounds and beat out 40 other golfers to capture medalist honors at the Sun Mountain Intercollegiate Invitational, which was hosted by the University of Montana on Monday and Tuesday at The Ranch Club in Missoula. The former Lady Badger state champion carded 25 pars and 15 birdies — six of which came during her career-best 3-under par 69 third round that propelled her from tied for fourth to first place — for the Lady Wildcats, which beat out five other teams to close out their fall season with their second tournament win. For her efforts, Bayer was named the Big Sky Conference Golfer of the Week, announced Wednesday by the league office. Weber State will return to action Tuesday, Feb. 10 and Wednesday, Feb. 11 at the Mountain Classic Match Play tournament set to be held at the The Classic Club in Palm Springs, Calif.

Luke Butler, Pacific Lutheran University Golf

A 2023 graduate of Priest River High, Luke, playing as an independent, carded a 4-over-par total gross 146 (70-76) across two rounds to place tied for 24th out of 78 golfers at the Pacific Invitational held Saturday and Sunday at Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Ore. The former Spartan standout totaled 24 pars and four birdies — all of which came during his career-best 1-under-par 70 first round — for the Lutes, which placed fifth out of 13 scoring teams. Pacific Lutheran will play next Sunday and Monday when they head to the Oswego Lake Country Club in Lake Oswego, Ore., for the Northwest Conference Fall Classic.

Lexi Tuinstra, South Mountain CC Golf

A 2025 graduate of Lake Havasu High who also played for Sandpoint High, Lexi shot a total gross 42-over-par 258 (90-85-83) across three rounds to place 36th out of 48 golfers at the OUAZ Fall Invitational held Monday and Tuesday at the Sterling Grove Golf Course in Surprise, Ariz. The former Lady Bulldog standout fired in 26 pars and was the No. 2 golfer for the Lady Cougars, which finished eighth out of eight scoring teams. South Mountain CC will play next at the Embry Riddle Invitational, set to be held Sunday through Tuesday at the Antelope Hills Golf Course in Prescott, Ariz.

Evan Dickinson, College of Idaho Soccer

A 2023 graduate of Sandpoint High, Evan, a junior defender, scored his first career goal as a Yote and registered three shots across 90 minutes of play in a recent 2-1 conference loss to Eastern Oregon. During the 35th minute, the former All-Inland Empire League selection headed in a corner kick by Pierre Fabre of Cannes, France from the backside post to tie the game 1-1. The former NJCAA All-American has started in all six games this season and has seen 398 minutes of action for the College of Idaho (2-3-1), which traveled to Rocky Mountain College on Oct. 9 and will travel to Carroll College on Saturday for a pair of conference games. 

Lilly Carlson, University of Providence Soccer

A 2023 graduate of Sandpoint High, Lilly, a junior defender, recorded her first career collegiate assist in a recent 5-1 conference win over Evergreen State College. The former Lady Bulldog standout's pass to Kailey Camper of Cypress, Calif., during the 88th minute capped off a run off five unanswered goals for the Argos (4-3-2), which travel to Oregon Tech today and Southern Oregon on Saturday for a pair of conference games.

Emma Thielbahr, University of Denver Soccer

A 2022 graduate of IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) who also played soccer for Sandpoint High, Emma, a junior defender, recorded an assist, her second of the season, in a recent 3-0 league win over Kansas City. During the 40th minute, the former All-Inland Empire League selection, inside the 6-yard box, connected with a bouncing ball that Grace Dreiling of Centennial, Colo., finished off for a 2-0 advantage. The two-time Summit League Defensive Peak Performer of the Week has started in all 13 games this season and has seen 1,139 minutes of action for the University of Denver (6-4-3) which hosted South Dakota State for a league game and DU Kicks Cancer Night on Thursday.

Kylie Burnett, St. Lawrence University Soccer

A 2022 graduate of Shattuck-St. Mary's (Faribault, Minn.) who also played soccer for Sandpoint High, Kylie, a senior defender, started in recent league wins over Bard College (4-0) and Clarkson University (2-0). She recorded her seventh shot of the season, second of which was on goal, in the game against Bard. The former Lady Bulldog standout has started in all 12 games this season and has seen 927 minutes of action for St. Lawrence (6-3-3), which hosts Vassar College for a league game on Saturday.

Kimberly Yarnell, Northwest University Soccer

A 2023 graduate of Sandpoint High, Kimberly recorded her first career assist for the Lady Eagles in a recent 3-0 conference win over the University of Providence. During the 14th minute, the former All-Inland Empire League selection fired a pass to Gracie VanAssche of Snohomish, Wash. for the early 1-0 lead. Previously a standout for the Colleges of Spokane, the junior midfielder has started all 11 games this season and has seen 801 minutes of action for Northwest University (5-3-3), which travels to Corban today and to Bushnell on Saturday for a pair of conference matchups.

Brayden Lamanna, Treasure Valley CC Cross Country

A 2025 graduate of Priest River High, Brayden placed 45th out of 333 runners with a career-best 8,000-meter time of 24 minutes, 58 seconds (5:01 per mile) at the 50th Charles Bowles Willamette Invitational held this past Saturday at Bush Park in Salem, Ore. The former Spartan standout was the No. 1 runner for the Chukars and the No. 2 runner amongst junior college competitors in a meet that featured NCAA Division I, II, III and NAIA competition, including teams such as Portland, Idaho, UC Santa Barbara, Seattle, Portland State, Nevada and more. Lamanna was also named the NWAC Runner of the Week (Sept. 15-21) for his season-opening performance at the Northwest Nazarene Invitational. Treasure Valley returns to action Saturday for the LC State Invitational at Lewis-Clark State College.

Caleb Norling, Olivet Nazarene University Swimming

A 2023 graduate of Sandpoint High, Caleb placed second out of seven swimmers in the 200-yard free with a time of 1 minute, 49.76 seconds in the Tiger's season-opening dual against Bethel University. The former Bulldog standout also finished fifth out 13 in the 100 free (49.87) and seventh out of eight in the 500 free (5:17.94) for Olivet Nazarene, which won by a score of 164-70 and returns to action Saturday, Oct. 18, for a tri-meet with Lewis University and Eastern University.

Jacob Ballard, BYU Swimming & Diving

A 2020 graduate of Central Valley High (Spokane Valley) who swam for a handful of years for Sandpoint High and the Sandpoint Sharks, Jacob finished sixth out of 29 swimmers in the 100 free with a time of 45.61 seconds at the Colorado Mesa University Intermountain Shootout held this past Saturday at the El Pomar Natatorium. The former Idaho state champion was also a part of the Cougars' third-place 200 medley relay team (1:28.15) for BYU, which will compete next on Saturday, Oct. 18, at the MPSF Open Water Championship in Long Beach, Calif.

Eli Larson, Carroll College Football

A 2021 graduate of Sandpoint High, Eli, a redshirt senior defensive back, had five tackles, two solo and three assisted, in the No. 17 Saints' 34-12 Frontier Conference victory at Arizona Christian University this past Saturday. The former All-Inland Empire League selection now has 120 career tackles, 21 so far this season, for Carroll College (4-1), which travels to No. 8 Montana Western this Saturday for a highly-anticipated conference matchup.

Aubree Lane, Spokane CC Volleyball

A 2023 graduate of Sandpoint High, Aubree, a sophomore pin hitter, recorded a combined 29 kills, 13 digs, two assists and 34 serve receptions in recent 3-0 wins over Columbia Basin College and Big Bend CC. With the performance, which included 19 kills in the victory over the Lady Vikings, the former All-Inland Empire League selection eclipsed 300 career kills and 600 career serve receptions. Spokane CC (13-5) hosted Treasure Valley CC on Oct. 8, and will travel to Walla Walla CC today.
