Eva Clarice Peeler, 81

Eva Clarice (Stephens) Peeler, 81, of Salt Lake City was called to heaven by the angels on Sept. 12, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Clarice was born on Oct. 4, 1943, in Long Beach, California, the daughter of Jess and Effie (Neeley) Stephens. She married the love of her life, Lloyd Wayne Peeler on Nov. 14, 1959.  

Wayne and Clarice raised five children in California and later moved the family to Montana in the late 1970s. After 18 memorable years, Clarice and Wayne retired as managers of Windmill Storage in Columbia Falls. They moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming in 2010 and Wayne passed on April 1, 2011. In 2019, Clarice moved to Salt Lake City to live near family.  

Wayne and Clarice’s love story resulted in five children, Deborah Labenski, Lisa Whitmire (Steve), Wayne Peeler Jr., Joseph Wayne Peeler, and Beatrice Pike (Eric); seven grandchildren, Nathanael Peeler, Kenna Labenski, Melissa Ruff, Charles Bud Hafer, Anika Pike, Erika Fletchall (Trenton), and Julia Peeler; 12 great-grandchildren, Clayton Devenport (Mirande) , Sophia Carter, Grace Peeler, Aliyah Hutchings, Myles Banister, Phoenyx Dull, Sylvia Dull, Kannon Kula, Paisley Fletchell, Barrett Fletchell, RaeLynn Fletchell, and Stetson Fletchell; and three great-great-grandchildren, James Devenport, Marilyn Devenport and Jensen Devenport. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews who cherished her.

Clarice worked many jobs and met many people over the years. She never knew a stranger and through her genuine kindness and beautiful smile, connected with people who always spoke of her with warmth and genuine affection.   

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd; children, Joseph and Beatrice; and parents, Jess and Effie Stephens, in addition to her brother and five sisters.

Clarice has been reunited with her family in heaven, and her life will be carried on through her surviving family members and all those who knew and loved her. 

A celebration of life will be held in June 2026 in Cheyenne, Wyoming.
