Boise State to host Idaho State in football in 2030

Boise State and Idaho State jointly announced the two teams have agreed to play each other in football in 2030 at Albertsons Stadium in Boise.

The game, set for Saturday, Sept. 7, 2030, will be the 32nd edition of the in-state rivalry but first matchup since 2015. The Broncos hold a 25-6 all-time advantage in the series.

“We appreciate Pauline Thiros, Idaho State Director of Athletics, and the Bengal football program for helping make this matchup happen,” Boise State athletic director Jeramiah Dickey said. “We have a formula for football scheduling, and we wanted to use the formula to keep our nonconference games in-state as much as possible. This game will be huge for both programs as well as the entire state as we continue to represent the state as the Front Porch of Idaho.”

Boise State will enter the 2030 game on a four-game winning streak in the series, last defeating the Bengals 52-0 on Sept. 18, 2015. The two teams, who were both members of the Big Sky Conference from 1970-96, have met three times since Boise State joined the FBS ranks in 1996 (2003, 2008, 2015).

The game marks the third game on the Broncos’ 2030 schedule, joining scheduled matchups at Memphis (Aug. 31) and a home game versus Houston (Sept. 14).

Boise State last played Idaho in football in 2010, when the schools were in the Western Athletic Conference. BSU moved to the Mountain West Conference the following year, and Idaho returned to FCS in 2018.
