Whitefish Theatre Company presents suspenseful classic, ‘Wait Until Dark’

The Whitefish Theatre Company is thrilled to present “Wait Until Dark” by Frederick Knott as the first main stage theatre production of their 2025-2026 season.  

A nail-biting thriller, “Wait Until Dark” runs Oct. 16-19 and 23-25 at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. There will be a sneak preview performance on Oct.16. All shows are at 7:30 p.m. except for the Sunday matinee on Oct. 19, which begins at 4 p.m. 

Murder, secret identities and a switchblade named Geraldine set the stage for one of American theatre’s greatest suspense plays. It is 1944 in Greenwich Village and Susan Hendrix, a blind capable woman, becomes the target of a group of ruthless criminals searching for a mysterious doll filled with contraband. As the tension mounts and the stakes grow higher, Susan must use her nerve and courage to outmaneuver her dangerous adversaries in a heart-pounding battle of wits. With its masterful blend of intrigue, danger and unexpected twists, “Wait Until Dark” delivers a thrilling theatrical experience. 

“It's hard to overstate the importance of the play “Wait Until Dark,” first produced in 1966, and its subsequent Oscar-winning film adaptation starring Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin,” director Jake Carr said. “If you're already familiar with this story, I hope our take still packs in some jolts, and if you're new, enjoy the ride.” 

Bringing the iconic characters to life on the WTC stage are actors Becky Rygg as Sylvia, Billy Fernandez as Roat, Jesse Nelson as Mike, Wes Hart as Carlino, Felicity Hernandez as Gloria, Michael Oaks as Sam, and Jhalen Salazar and Lisa Swanson as the police officers. 

“Theater-making is always a team sport,” continues Carr. “Which is especially true for such a technical beast of a show. If we've done our job, the audience will never know the immense amount of human power that went into pulling off our theatre magic.”

Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $10 for students. Tickets to our sneak preview performance on October 16 are $12 for adults and $10 for students and are available for purchase at the box office the night of the show only.
