Bonners Ferry Farmers Market end of year update

An earlier version of this story incorrectly stated that Kirsten Mastre was voted onto the Board and Cassidy Cossairt will become the new Board Chair. It has been updated and those errors have been corrected.
Amid growing talks of the Bonners Ferry Farmers Market moving to Main Street, the Oct. 4 market was both the final market of the year and the organization’s harvest festival. Around 40 vendors gathered afterward to discuss how the year went and the plans for next year.
According to statistics released during the meeting, the market saw an average of 36 vendors each Saturday, with a low of 26. Two years ago, the low was 16 vendors, showing an improvement in attendance.
New board members were sworn in at the meeting. Adina Feldmann, the board chair, will be leaving her post, as will secretary Grace Robinson. Two new members, Malinda Plant and Kristin Vaughn, were elected to the board unanimously.
A debate on the future location of the market was held at the year-end meeting, but no final vote was taken on the market’s location for 2026. However, most of the board indicated support for moving to Main Street. A few vendors did voice problems with the Main Street location, mainly regarding a lack of access for people who have trouble walking.
Final decisions on location will likely come after discussions between the farmers market board and the city of Bonners Ferry.
As part of the Harvest Festival, an apple press was brought into the farmers market, as was a photo booth. The theme was fall, which officially started Sept. 21.
The next event for market vendors to come to is the Holiday Market, which will be on Nov. 22 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the county fairgrounds.
