Polson man charged with firing gun in city limits

A Polson man is accused of discharging a firearm within Polson City limits.
Adrian Royce Nichols, 19, entered a plea of not guilty in District Court in Polson to felony criminal endangerment.
According to court records, on Sept 14, Polson Police responded to a report of shots fired near the Cherry Hill Apartments along Hillcrest Drive. A witness at the scene pointed out the suspect, later identified as Nichols.
The officer found a spent shell casing in the same area, documents state. A bullet hole was later located in a door of an empty apartment. The bullet also went through a refrigerator door, left ajar, and lodged in a shelf.
Nichols allegedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.149 at the time.
Judge John A. Mercer set the case for trial on Feb. 9 and granted Nichols an own recognizance release. A condition of his release includes wearing an alcohol monitoring device.

A Dayton man was re-sentenced in District Court in Polson on March 26 to the Montana Department of Corrections for five years. It comes with a recommendation that he be placed in a secure setting at the Montana State Prison for violating terms of probation.
