PREP CROSS COUNTRY: Bonners Ferry runs at the Inland Empire Championships as they prepare for the district championship

The Bonners Ferry varsity women’s cross-country team finished in 14th place at the Inland Empire Championships at Lewiston Orchards in a final tune up for both the men and women before the 4A District Championships at home on Oct. 23.
In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Kylie Calderone finished in 54th place out of 123 athletes with a time of 20 minutes, 29 seconds. Junior Gia Roemer (87th, 22:20) and sophomore Cheyenne Schutte (99th, 23:15) were next to finish, with both achieving personal records. Sophomore Kya Alderman (103rd, 23:49) and a season best for Abigail Huggins (116th, 25:42) rounded it out for Bonners Ferry.
For Bonners Ferry men’s cross country, only three athletes participated. Freshman Brecken Miller finished 112th out of 148 runners with a time of 18 minutes, 32 seconds. Freshman Gordon Woelfle (117th, 18:41) and sophomore Brock Tuma (132nd, 19:43) also ran well. It was a PR for Tuma and was Woelfle’s third PR in a row.
Bonners Ferry women's junior varsity also participated. Kinzie Bradley finished the 5,000 meters in 28 minutes, 31 seconds for Bonners Ferry, good enough for 85th place out of 99. Sophomore Elle Sheets (93rd, 30:00) and freshman Hailey Reeves (94th, 30:09) finished back-to-back. It was a PR for Bradley, her fourth in a row, as well as a PR for Sheets.
