100 Years Ago

James T. Piant, general manager of the Marr's Stores, Spokane, announced that he had sublet space in the Glad and Lundwall Cash Market which would be occupied on and after October 31 by Marrs Store No. 38.

In the first scheduled game of the season here last Friday afternoon, the local high school football team swamped the Newport team by a score of 54 to 0. A large crowd was in attendance and the game was greatly enjoyed, in spite of the one-sided score.

Major W.S. Walker, who with his wife, has been a resident of this district for 22 years, has sold his residence on the Northside to George McGlocklin. Mr. and Mrs. Walker are now preparing to move to Spokane to live at the home of their son.

Bill Irwin Jr. received chest injuries Oct. 2 when he fell under the wheel of a fertilizer machine.

Post 55 will host the American Legion convention here Saturday.

West Fork Cabin, located up Smith Creek, has been designated a historical site.

The Badgers tied with Chewelah Friday night and is tied with Grangeville for second place in the state poll.

The Badger volleyball gals defeated Sandpoint and St. Maries last week to slip into the league lead.
