Whitefish overpowers Polson in homecoming game

Despite a promising opening drive and a charged-up homecoming crowd, the Polson Pirates couldn’t find the end zone often enough Friday night as the Whitefish Bulldogs scored a 41–6 Northwest A victory at Polson High School.

Polson (0–2, 2–3) drove deep into the red zone on its opening possession, reaching the 2-yard line before being stopped on fourth down. The drive’s abrupt end set the tone for the evening. On the very next play, Whitefish’s Cole Moses took a handoff and dashed 68 yards untouched for the game’s first touchdown.

Moses continued to dominate, scoring on runs of 10 and 5 yards, while quarterback Luke Dalen connected with Jordan Harmon and Bear Barker for touchdown passes of 26 and five yards. Harmon also added a five-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter.

Polson’s lone highlight came in the third quarter when Cody Haggard intercepted a pass and returned it 26 yards to the 2-yard line. Quarterback Case Cox capitalized moments later with a short touchdown pass to Holden Emerson.

Defensively, lineman Jack Sherry recovered a fumble for the Pirates, and receiver Luke Horner hauled in a 35-yard catch to spark a late drive that ended just shy of the end zone as time expired.

Whitefish improved to 2–0 in league play and 4–1 overall, while Polson fell to 0–2 in Northwest A action.
