Bigfork, Whitefish deal Libby volleyball losses

The Libby Lady Loggers battled through long rallies and tough serving but couldn’t overcome Bigfork’s consistency Saturday, falling in straight sets, 25-17, 25-7, 25-11, in Northwest A volleyball action.
Senior Jillian Stewart and junior Maddie Willis each notched two kills, with Willis also adding a team-high six total blocks alongside Leah Rusdal, who contributed five. Senior Augie Bailey also chipped in two kills and two blocks, giving Libby solid defensive presence at the net.
Senior Tessa Purdy served a team-high 12 times with one ace, while senior Bella Meyer and junior Rylee Delmas each added three service points without a single error. Defensively, Meyer anchored the back row with 11 digs, and Delmas tallied six, helping the Loggers keep several volleys alive against a sharp-hitting Vikings squad.
Despite the loss, Libby showed flashes of rhythm throughout the first set before Bigfork’s serve game took control.
The defeat drops Libby to 1-16 overall.
Whitefish Sweeps Libby
The Lady Loggers put up a spirited fight Thursday night but couldn’t match the pace and consistency of visiting Whitefish, falling 25-10, 25-15, 25-8 in a Northwest A volleyball matchup.
Junior Leah Rusdal led the Lady Loggers with four kills and two total blocks, while senior Augie Bailey added two kills and a block. Senior Jillian Stewart and sophomore Bently Houston each chipped in a kill, and junior Rylee Delmas paced the offense with six assists and four digs.
Defensively, senior Bella Meyer anchored the back row with nine digs, followed by Delmas and Danika Allen, who each tallied four. Libby totaled 24 digs as a team.
At the service line, junior Tessa Purdy went a perfect 4-for-4, and Delmas was also strong, serving 6-for-6.
Libby played at Browning Tuesday and they head to Butte this weekend for the Blocktober Tournament.
