Ellen Travolta wouldn’t describe her latest movie, “Haul Out the Halloween,” as “scary” — and she’s okay with that.

“There’s romance, tradition, poignancy, lots of laughs ... it’s just a fun movie,” Travolta said. “It’s fun to do a Halloween movie that isn’t scary.”

Travolta stars alongside Lacey Chabert, Melissa Peterman, Wes Brown, Stephen Tobolowsky, Kimberly J. Brown and Daniel Kountz in “Haul Out on Halloween,” which premieres Saturday at 8 p.m. on the Hallmark Channel and streams the next day on Hallmark+.

The movie is the third in a series of popular Hallmark originals, following 2022’s “Haul Out the Holly” and 2023’s “Haul Out the Holly: Lit Up,” both of which took place during Christmastime.

In the latest installment, Travolta returns as Mary Louise, a resident in a uniquely festive cul-de-sac called Evergreen Lane.

“For a neighborhood as renowned for its spectacular holiday displays as Evergreen Lane, the street has long been modest when it comes to Halloween,” the movie’s synopsis reads.  “But when fun and spooky new neighbors, Luna (Brown) and Marvin (Kountz) move to the block, Emily (Chabert), Jared (Brown) and the rest of the HOA agree to get in on the seasonal fun and launch EverSCREAM Lane to fundraise for a local charity.”

Through the “haunted hijinks” that ensue on the block, Chabert’s character, Emily, “rediscovers the joys of the holiday that she and her late grandmother once cherished,” according to the synopsis.

Travolta cherished the opportunity to reunite with her fellow cast members and welcome newcomers Brown and Kountz into the fold.

“It feels like family,” Travolta said, “like we’ve known each other forever.”

While she is best recognized for her roles in television shows like “Happy Days” and “Joanie Loves Chachi,” Travolta is widely known to the local community for her holiday production “Ellen Travolta Presents,” which ran for about ten years at the Coeur d’Alene Resort until 2023.

Now, she produces “The Sound of Christmas,” which also runs at the Resort during the holiday season and blends music, storytelling, and beloved local traditions in Travolta’s signature style.
