The City of Whitefish has contracted with Knife River to complete the reconstruction of a portion of Monegan Road from Voerman Road to JP Road.

Monegan Road between Voerman Road and JP Road will be closed to thru traffic starting on Thursday, Oct. 16. The closure is anticipated to last approximately one month and will resume next summer.

Knife River submitted the lowest responsible bid to the city, nearly $934,000, which was below the engineer’s estimate.

This phase of the reconstruction includes earthwork, crushed aggregate placement, ditch regrading, culvert installation, guard rail installation and asphalt paving.

Phase 2 of the Monegan Road improvement project is expected to be funded by the gas tax, stormwater and street funds.
