PREP ROUNDUP: Royce, Eggleston, Lake City girls win at The Gorge

• CROSS COUNTRY

GEORGE, Wash. — Timberlake juniors Caleb Royce (boys) and Lola Eggleston (girls) won the Small School races in the Live Nation Invitational at the Gorge Amphitheater, leading the Tigers to team titles. 

Royce won in 16 minutes, 29.81 seconds for Timberlake, which claimed the boys title with 28 points. 

Eggleston finished in 19:29.60 for the Timberlake girls, who finished with 30 points. 

Lake City junior Madison Zimmerman was second in the girls Large School race, finishing in 20:22.80, leading the Timberwolves to the team title. 

Shadle Park won the boys Large School title with 66 points.

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior Kaylee Paulson had 15 kills as the host Vikings celebrated senior night with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-21 victory over the Bears at Viking Court. 

Senior Gianna Callari had 12 kills and three aces and senior Camryn Farrar had two aces for Coeur d’Alene (20-3). Hannah Shafer added 22 assists, Eva Callari 16 assists, Embree McKeown 13 digs, Bridget Maiani 12 digs, Maren Larson three blocks, Jovie Le two blocks. 

“Senior night was nothing short of unforgettable,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said. “Every senior stepped up and left it all on the court — from powerful serves to game-changing plays, they showed exactly why they’ve been the heart of this team. It was a night of celebration, emotion, and incredible volleyball. It was a great final regular season home match.” 

Moscow is 11-12. 

Coeur d’Alene wraps up the regular season Tuesday at Lewis and Clark of Spokane. 


Freeman d. 

Lake City 

ROCKFORD, Wash. — The visiting Timberwolves fell to the Scotties 28-26, 25-13, 28-26 in nonleague play. 

Kate Moglia had 20 assists and four digs for Lake City (9-14). Camryn Woodman added 14 kills and six digs, Ella Jeanselme nine kills, Miranda FitzSimmons 14 assists and three aces. 

“Freeman’s size and offensive power made them a tough opponent and we didn’t capitalize on our opportunities to close out sets,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “A great learning opportunity for us as we prepare to close out the regular season and head into districts.” 

Lake City travels to Post Falls on Tuesday in the 6A Inland Empire League and regular season finale for both teams. 


Lewiston d. 

Lakeland 

LEWISTON — In a match for first place in the 5A Inland Empire League, the shorthanded Hawks fell to the host Bengals 25-20, 25-23, 25-22. 

“We came up just short tonight, but showed impressive grit and teamwork from start to finish,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “With Alyssa (Ryckman) sidelined due to a concussion, Marissa (Benson) and Maddi (Justesen) stepped up in a big way on the outside, keeping the offense steady and competitive.” 

Jaeli Hoffman had eight kills and 16 assists for Lakeland (11-12, 2-2 5A IEL). Kindell Day added 13 assists and eight kills, Jolie Warren 14 digs and two aces, Anabel Bowie three blocks. 

“Jolie had a strong all-around performance, proving her consistency on both sides of the ball,” Badger said. “Kindell and Jaeli also had great games, running the offense efficiently and coming through with key kills in crucial moments. Despite the loss, our girls demonstrated resilience and unity — coming together and playing with heart through every point.” 

Lewiston is 14-6, 4-1. 

Lakeland plays host to Sandpoint on Tuesday and Moscow on Thursday in 5A IEL matches to wrap up the regular season. 


Kellogg d. 

St. Maries 

ST. MARIES — The visiting Wildcats, who clinched the Central Idaho League title on Tuesday, swept the Lumberjacks 25-7, 25-15, 25-14 in CIL play. 

Kellogg is 21-1, 8-0 IML. 

Dimercia Spooner had five kills and two blocks for St. Maries (2-16, 0-7). Taryn Brebner had five digs, Lyssa Watkins four assists, Brooklyn Scheffelmaier nine digs.  

“It was just one of those nights that we couldn’t get a pass off or get to where we needed to be to cover,” St. Maries coach Tammie Woster said. “Kellogg hit the open spots.” 

Kellogg plays host to Timberlake on Saturday. 

St. Maries is home vs. Timberlake on Tuesday. 


Wallace d. 

Genesis Prep 

POST FALLS — Senior Kylee Phillips had eight aces, three kills and eight digs for the Miners in a 25-7, 25-12, 25-19 win over the Jaguars in a Scenic Idaho Conference match at The Courts at Real Life. 

Senior Megan Hull had four aces, four kills and 10 digs, senior Anna Rehnborg five aces, junior Kayden Stutzke 10 assists and two kills and junior Khepri Wood five kills for Wallace (12-7, 4-2 SIC), which hosts Clark Fork in the opening round of the 2A District 1 tournament on Wednesday. 

Genesis Prep (2-12, 0-6) faces Coeur du Christ on Monday at Holy Family Catholic School in Coeur d’Alene.
