Coeur d'Alene fire engineer Dave Tysdal is set to leave the hospital next week as he progresses into outpatient care, the Coeur d'Alene Fire Department shared Saturday.

"The family will continue to live in Colorado, for now, where he can keep working on his rehabilitation," CDAFD said in a social media post.

Tysdal has been recovering at a specialty rehab facility since July after he was shot during the June 29 shooting on Canfield Mountain, resulting in serious bodily injuries.

Construction crews are also working to modify the Tysdal home for wheelchair accessibility, as Tysdal has not yet regained the function of his legs.

"They are still hopeful for a miracle," CDAFD said.

CDAFD also invites the public to send Tysdal and his family well wishes. Mail should be addressed to the fire department administration office at 300 E. Foster Ave., Coeur d'Alene.

A sepia-toned photograph of about 30 businessmen hangs in the office of Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber’s President and CEO, Linda Coppess. Though dressed in the fashion of decades past, the men gathered for a purpose that has endured: uplifting area businesses through the Chamber. The photo is a reminder of the Chamber’s 114 years of history, Coppess said in her address to nearly 200 attendees at Tuesday morning’s Breakfast Connect event.
