Hickey, Schmit power Bigfork past Polson

POLSON — Treker Hickey scored two touchdowns, Cole Schmit threw a touchdown pass and the Bigfork Vikings held off Polson 22-19 in a key Northwest A football game Friday night.


Case Cox ran for one score and hit Eli Evenson with a TD pass for the host Pirates. Points after touchdowns were critical: The Vikings (4-2 overall, 2-1 in league games) converted two 2-point PATs while Polson (2-4, 0-3 in league) got one PAT kick to go through. 


Cox was 10 of 17 passing for 63 yards for Polson and ran three times for 28 yards. Holden Emerson ran for 39 yards on 13 carries, including a 2-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. 


On defense Bradley Smith intercepted a pass for Polson, and Emerson made nine tackles. 


Austin Savik caught Schmit’s TD pass for Bigfork; Tamret Savik had an interception.

RONAN — Libby quarterback Tristan Andersen passed for one touchdown and ran for another, and the Loggers downed Ronan in Northwest A action. 


Ian Thom picked up 118 yards on just nine carries and had a TD for Libby (4-2 overall, 2-1 in league). Teammate Bransen Holzer and six carries for 57 yards, including a 1-yard touchdown run. 


Andersen completed 5 of 7 passes for 39 yards, including a 9-yard Roto Isaac Lamere, and picked up 97 yards on just five carries for the Loggers. 


Defensively, Libby held the Chiefs (0-7, 0-3) to 22 yards. Layton Burland picked up 18 yards rushing on four carries for Ronan.

Florence 34, Eureka 6


FLORENCE — Brody Duchien threw for 285 yards and three touchdowns in the first half, and the Florence Falcons downed Eureka 34-6 in a Western B showdown. 


Duchien threw scoring passes of 21, 83 and 55 yards as the Falcons (3-3 overall, 3-0 in Western B games) took a 21-0 lead. The gap grew to 27-0 when Mattix Chase tore off a 24-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. 


Rogan Lytle got Eureka (3-2, 3-1 in league) on the board with a 16-yard touchdown run. Lytle was 11 of 22 passing for 89 yards and rushed for 109 yards on 15 carries. 


Josh Lambertsen rushed for 50 yards on 15 carries for the Lions. Emmet McKim had a team-high seven tackles, two for losses; Lytle, Lambertsen and Timothy Schmidt had five stops each. Lytle recovered a fumble.
