OTHELLO – Adams County Pet Rescue has a lively assortment of adoptees waiting for their forever homes, featuring an array of feline friends and canine companions.

Each of these pets is vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed or neutered, ensuring they are ready for a lifetime of love. Whether you're looking for a playful pup or a wise cat, you may just find your new best friend among these five lovable animals.

Meet Arius: a dapper domestic longhair

Arius, a handsome domestic longhair cat, is a distinguished gentleman who's been holding court at the Adams County Pet Rescue. At a robust size, his fluffy coat is as charming as his personality. Arius is an adult male, likely enjoying the finer things in life — sunbathing, napping, and chatting about the latest feline fashion trends.

This debonair cat is not just a pretty face; his gentle and affectionate nature makes him the purrfect companion. He loves to curl up with his favorite humans and is always up for a good scratch behind the ears. If you're seeking a regal addition to your household, don’t wait too long; this charmer is ready to claim his throne in your heart.

Meet Aree: an effervescent companion

For those who favor the youthful vigor of a feline, Aree is an adorable domestic shorthair just waiting to bounce into your life. Being a small, young female, Aree has an undeniable zest for fun and adventure. She embodies the spirit of curiosity, exploring every nook and cranny of her environment with wide, inquisitive eyes.

Aree is a bundle of energy and joy, ideal for families or individuals seeking a lively pet to share their lives with. Unlike most cats, she prefers the hustle and bustle, and she thrives when engaged with her human companions. If you’re ready to add a sprinkle of playfulness to your home, consider adopting Aree. She'll soon make every day feel like a purr-adise.

Meet Farfalla: a joyful puppy

Farfalla, a puppy with a sprinkle of charm and a dash of energy, is stealing hearts at the Othello Animal Shelter. This small mixed-breed female is the epitome of love and laughter, embodying the joyful spirit of her young age. With her puppy-dog eyes and soft fur, she captures the essence of unconditional love without even trying.

She is eager to learn and absolutely delights in interactive play sessions, making her the ideal pet for families or single individuals who are prepared to embrace the adventures of puppyhood. Farfalla will remind you daily that life is better when you’re playful and curious. So, if you're ready to embark on a journey filled with paw-sitivity, consider adopting this delightful pup. She'll make your home barktastic!

Meet Crape Myrtle: the shepherd sweetheart

Crape Myrtle is a young female shepherd whose kind heart and gentle demeanor make her an exceptional candidate for companionship. She’s a medium-sized dog, rich with both beauty and brains. Crape Myrtle is ready to embark on a lovely journey with that special someone.

She has a calm and protective nature, which is an asset for any household looking for a faithful friend. Being young and spirited, she also enjoys her fair share of playful antics and outdoor activities. If you’re seeking a loyal sidekick who will be fiercely devoted to you, Crape Myrtle is the perfect match. She’s just waiting for a loving human to take the plunge and form a valuable bond.

Meet Pippi: a majestic matriarch

Pippi, a black Labrador retriever mix, is an adult female with a commanding presence and a heart full of love. As a large dog, her warm, friendly disposition ensures that she stands out both in size and in spirit. Despite her seasoned wisdom, she retains the playful essence of a younger dog, making her a well-rounded companion.

Pippi is searching for a caregiver who embraces both fun and affection. She is highly trainable, making her a superb choice for anyone looking to engage in outdoor activities or simply enjoy quiet evenings snuggling up on the couch. If you’ve been searching for a loving companion who can effortlessly keep your life balanced with joy, look no further than Pippi.

Local leaders say community voices shape schools, cities and trust

WARDEN — When Warden Mayor Rosaelia Martinez looked out over the audience at the April 28 Warden City Council meeting, she didn’t see empty seats. She saw neighbors. “First of all, before we start, I want to say thank you to all those that came to the meeting tonight,” Martinez said. “I know we are all busy people, and I really appreciate your input. Your time is valuable and we appreciate you being here.” That message – that showing up matters – was echoed by city and school leaders across the Columbia Basin, many of whom say public participation directly shapes decision-making, transparency and long‑term planning.
