Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 months, 2 weeks AGO
POST FALLS — The Post Falls Trojans earned the No. 2 seed to the 6A District 1 tournament on Tuesday with a 25-22, 25-17, 25-21 victory over the Lake City Timberwolves in the regular season and 6A Inland Empire League finale at The Arena.
Mia Carr, one of two seniors honored on senior night, had 18 digs and two aces for Post Falls (19-7, 2-2 6A IEL). Junior Teresa Smith added 10 kills, 12 digs and two aces, Zuri Blood 10 kills, Anabelle Tucker nine kills, Claire Ziegler 15 assists and three aces, Lucy Carr 15 assists and two aces, Rylie Gump five blocks, Reese DeGraw-Tryall four blocks.
"It was great to celebrate our seniors, and get a big league win tonight,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “Mia and (senior) Tiffany (Foxx) both showed why they are the captains tonight. I turned in a wrong lineup in the second set and they helped keep everyone calm and in control.”
The win means Post Falls will play host to No. 3 seed Lake City (9-15, 1-3) on Saturday at noon in the loser-out first-round at regionals. The winner will play at top seed Coeur d’Alene on Monday in the first match of a best-of-3 series for the regional title.
For Lakeland, Ella Jeanselme and Camryn Woodman each had nine kills and 17 digs. Kate Moglia added seven kills and 16 assists, Alaina Freed five kills and two aces.
“Congratulations to Post Falls on their senior night,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “They played well. We didn’t bring it tonight, which was disappointing. Definitely have some reflecting and adjustments to make ahead of seeing them again on Saturday.”
