CUSICK, Wash. — Ruby Creek Resort, a boutique RV resort and waterfront retreat in northeast Washington, announced today that its owner and operator, Jake Abbott, has received the inaugural Outstanding Customer Service Award from Washington State Tourism.
The award was presented last week at the annual Tourism Conference in Spokane, recognizing Abbott’s commitment to exceptional hospitality — a hallmark of the resort since its opening in 2023, Port of Pend Oreille officials announced in a press release.
Ruby Creek Resort quickly earned a reputation as one of the Inland Northwest’s premier destinations by consistently delivering warm, personalized guest experiences along the scenic Pend Oreille River. Online reviews frequently praise the “immaculate grounds,” “breathtaking views,” and “wonderful hosts” for making every stay memorable.
Abbott, who transitioned from a long career as a nonprofit executive to owning the resort, accepted the award during the three-day industry event, which brings together tourism professionals from across the state to network and share best practices.
“This award reflects the core values we built Ruby Creek Resort upon,” Abbott said. “Hospitality isn’t just about amenities or beautiful scenery — it’s about creating a true sense of community and making sure every guest feels welcomed and cared for. Exceptional service is about connecting with people, and we’re proud to bring this level of recognition to northeast Washington’s tourism community.”
Washington State Tourism introduced the Outstanding Customer Service Award this year to honor individuals who demonstrate a welcoming spirit, a strong commitment to service, and a positive impact on the visitor experience. Abbott’s approach to hospitality exemplifies the professionalism and high standards the state aims to promote within its growing tourism sector.
