PREP ROUNDUP: Knights, Miners to face off in 2A District 1 semifinals

PLUMMER — Senior Kimberly Pluff had 11 kills, nine digs and one assist for the top-seeded Lakeside Knights in a 25-13, 25-10, 25-10 sweep of the fourth-seeded Genesis Prep Jaguars in the opening round of the 2A District 1 tournament at Ron Miller Court on Wednesday. 

“My Knights are coming into this with fuel and a rage to win,” Lakeside coach Devyn Moore said. “The girls covered well and had a great serving game all around. Now, we prepare for Saturday. 

Senior Tylah Lambert had six aces, two kills, four digs and 20 assists, senior Rayna Schatz five kills and three digs, senior Alberta Stensgar four digs and sophomore Saydee Peone one aces, five kills and six digs for Lakeside (14-1), which hosts Wallace (13-7) in a semifinal match on Saturday at 2 p.m. 

Genesis Prep (2-14) plays a loser-out match at Clark Fork (8-9) on Saturday at 2 p.m.

WALLACE — Senior Megan Hull had 11 kills, 12 digs and two blocks for the second-seeded Miners in a 25-12, 25-17, 25-19 win over the third-seeded Wampus Cats in an opening round match in the 2A District 1 tournament at Kirby Krulitz Court. 

Senior Kylee Phillips had 13 digs, two blocks, two aces and two kills, senior Aubrey Birdsell 12 assists, 10 digs and two kills, junior Khepri Wood four kills and two blocks and junior Kayden Stutzke 13 assists and two aces for Wallace (13-7), which travels to Lakeside (14-1) in a semifinal match on Saturday at 2 p.m. 

Clark Fork (8-9) hosts Genesis Prep (2-14) in a loser-out match on Saturday at 2 p.m.

POST FALLS — The fourth-seeded Tigers (4-10) advanced to the semifinal round by defeating the fifth-seeded Bulldogs (2-10) on penalty kicks in an opening round game in the 3A District 1-2 tournament at The Fields at Real Life.

Timberlake faces top-seeded Coeur d'Alene Charter (13-1) on Friday at 11 a.m.

POST FALLS — Juniors Trace Chatigny and Brennen Derry scored second half goals for the Lumberjacks in a loss to the third-seeded Maniacs in the 3A District 1-2 tournament at The Fields at Real Life. 

St. Maries finished 0-13. 

Caleb Potratz and Cash Nelson scored two goals each for Orofino (8-2), which faces second-seeded Bonners Ferry (10-6) on Friday at 1 p.m. at The Fields at Real Life.

Grangeville advances to face Coeur d’Alene Charter (10-1-1) in a semifinal game on Friday at 11 a.m. at The Fields at Real Life.

POST FALLS — The third-seeded Badgers advanced to the semifinals of the 4A District 1-2 tournament with a win over the Spartans at The Fields at Real Life.

Bonners Ferry (7-7) will face second-seeded Timberlake (8-8) on Friday at The Fields at 1 p.m.

Priest River finished 0-14.


Sandpoint 2

Moscow 1, PK

MOSCOW — The second-seeded Bulldogs (6-8-1) beat the top-seeded Bears (10-3-3) 4-2 on penalty kicks to win the 5A Region 1 championship at the Moscow School District Community Fields.

Sandpoint, seeded 12th in the latest MaxPreps.com rankings which are used to seed the state tournament, advance to state starting next Thursday at Middleton High.

Moscow, which is fifth, moves onto a play-in match against the District 4 runner-up on Saturday at noon at McCall-Donnelly High.
