COLUMBIA BASIN — Whether you celebrate Halloween or harvest, there’s no shortage of macabre fun this week in the Basin, plus crafts, live music and more. Here are some ideas for getting out and about:
Oct. 16-Nov. 2
‘Little Shop of Horrors’
The Masquers Theater presents the dark musical comedy by Disney veterans Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. Seymour Krelborn is a meek and dejected assistant at a floral shop who happens upon a strange plant, which he affectionately names “Audrey II” after his crush at the shop. Little does he know that this strange and unusual plant will develop a soulful R&B voice, a potty mouth and an unquenchable thirst for human blood. Cars, Cops, Coffee and First Responders
Family-friendly show-and-shine event to salute and thank police, firefighters and other first responders. Children can check out classic cars, motorcycles, trucks, hot rods, and first responder vehicles, grab lunch or some coffee or a sweet treat, and pick up a sticker or two. Pumpkin Run

Othello Fall Festival
Join the Greater Othello Chamber of Commerce at Kiwanis Park in Othello for its annual Fall Festival from noon to 10 p.m. The event will include a trunk or treat, contests, food and family activities. A variety of vendors will be on hand for a little fall shopping.
Fall Craft Event

Autism Rides
Join the Autism Support Group of Grant County for an afternoon of fun, connection, and horse riding. This special event is open to autism families in our community to enjoy the fresh air, meet other families and spend some time with the animals. Youth Dynamics Fundraiser & Auction
Offer support to a local nonprofit youth ministry that works to connect students with caring adults and faith. Proceeds from the annual fundraiser will help with leadership development and ministry programs. The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the Grant County Fairgrounds 4-H building. ‘Frankenstein: A Living Comic Book’
This electrifying stage production blends immersive design and playful theatrical techniques using live action, projection and comic book art to reanimate the sci-fi classic for a new generation. This family-friendly spin on the literary classic “Frankenstein” by Mary Shelley confronts modern issues of climate change, artificial intelligence, and our relationship to technology. Tile Mural Project
Join your neighbors in creating a one-of-a-kind community mural. The Soap Lake Creative District is inviting everyone to paint a tile that will become part of a larger, beautiful artwork displayed on the James Building. No experience is necessary, just your creativity. All ages are welcome. This is a great way to leave your mark on the city and connect with others. Barrel racing fun
Join the Columbia Basin Barrel Racing Club for the NFR Winter Classic 5D race hosted at the Grant County Fairgrounds. Kitchen Sink Science: Exploring Fingerprints and DNA
