Sergeant Dale Caleb Law, 43, of Hayden, Idaho, unexpectedly passed away Oct. 9, 2025, in a UTV crash. Caleb was born in Nampa, Idaho, in 1982 to Casey and Debbra.

He grew up in Nampa and moved to Moscow as a young adult before starting his career in law enforcement in Latah County in 2005. In 2007, he joined the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office and moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where he served with distinction for 18 years.

Caleb was an adoring father and devoted husband. In 2015, he married his best friend, Haley Freeman. They welcomed two children, James and Claire. Family was everything to him, and his definition of family did not stop at blood relation. If he loved you, he made sure you knew it. He loved being outdoors, wrenching on cars and seeing just how far he could take a practical joke.

Caleb was preceded in death by his brother, Will Newman; his grandparents, Dale and Gaylene Law, Harry Hofstetter and Ruth Pickett; his great-nephew, Jayce Morgan; and his daughter-in-law, Samantha. He is survived by his wife, Haley Law; his children, James and Claire; his boys, Tristen, Jayden and Dalten; his granddaughters, Willow, Hadleigh and Aria; his parents, Casey and Kathy Law and Debbie and Bill Swan; his siblings, Maeleen, Alicia, Brandy, Sheena, Kenny, Carrie, Samantha, Waron and Ryan; numerous in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and countless nieces and nephews whom he loved so much.

A memorial service will be held Monday, Oct. 20, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Lake City Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene. Donations for the Law family can be made through the Red and Blue Foundation (www.redbluefoundation.org).

Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the final arrangements. Caleb’s online memorial is at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
