PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lakeland wins, will be No. 2 seed as 5A regionals start Saturday

RATHDRUM — Junior Jolie Warren totaled 18 kills and 13 digs as the host Lakeland Hawks swept the Moscow Bears 25-10, 25-23, 25-23 in the regular season and 5A Inland Empire League finale for both teams Thursday night at Hawk Court.
Senior Alyssa Ryckman added 10 kills and 19 digs for Lakeland (13-12, 4-2 5A IEL), which will be the No. 2 seed to the 5A Region 1 tournament. Also Thursday, Lewiston (15-7, 5-1 5A IEL) swept visiting Sandpoint (7-10, 2-4) to win the league title and earn the No. 1 seed to regionals.
Kindell Day and Jaeli Hoffman each had 18 assists for Lakeland. Chloe Neff had 14 digs, Raygen Dutton three aces, Anabel Bowie two blocks.
"Jolie had a strong all-around performance,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “Kindell made several scrappy, hustle plays to keep rallies alive and swing momentum in our favor.”
Lakeland will play host to No. 3 seed Sandpoint on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the first round of regionals. In the other first-round match, No. 4 Moscow (13-13, 1-5 5A IEL) travels to Lewiston.

Riverside
SPIRIT LAKE — Amarijana Olivieri, one of four players honored on senior night, totaled nine kills, 14 digs, three aces and two blocks as the Tigers swept the visiting Rams of Chattaroy, Wash., 25-14, 25-7, 25-16 in their regular season finale.
Senior Kaydence Edwards had 13 assists, and senior Rilynn Kaiser had six kills, eight digs and two aces for Timberlake (9-10). Addie Archer added 16 digs, five kills and two aces, Jordyn Parke 13 assists, Layla Webb five kills, five blocks and two aces for the Tigers.
"Even though it is always an emotional night, they really connected and played well together,” Timberlake coach Lisa Gardom said. “We have been battling some injuries and sickness and the team has stepped up and stepped into major roles and supported one another. I love the growth that I’m seeing with this group.”
Timberlake, the No. 1 seed, returns to action on Monday at 6 p.m., hosting No. 2 Bonners Ferry in the first match of a best-of-3 series for the 4A District 1 title.

St. Maries
GRANGEVILLE — The visiting Lumberjacks won a set in league play for the first time this season before falling to the Bulldogs in their season finale, 22-25, 25-12, 25-9, 25-7 in the Central Idaho League play.
Dimercia Spooner had six kills, six blocks and five digs for St. Maries (2-18, 0-8 CIL). Lyssa Watkins added seven assists and three blocks, Bristal Thorhaug four digs, Taylyn Harvey four blocks.
St. Maries finished fifth in the five-team CIL. With the league eliminating the 4-vs.-5 match at districts, the Lumberjacks’ season is over.
"The girls came out ready for tonight; the first game was a good one,” first-year St. Maries coach Tammie Woster. “They were in their groove the whole set. Then we had trouble moving the ball, getting it to the setter, and it kind of went downhill from there. It’s been a tough year and I’m looking forward to watching how this team comes together In the future.”
Grangeville (10-11, 3-5) finished tied for third with Orofino in the CIL. Grangeville holds the tiebreaker for the No. 3 seed, so the Bulldogs will play at No. 2 Priest River in the first round of the 3A District 1-2 tournament on Tuesday. Also Tuesday, top seed Kellogg plays host to Orofino.

Chesterton
COEUR d’ALENE — Back at full strength on senior night, the Saints defeated Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame from Spokane 25-17, 25-13, 25-16 in the regular season finale for Coeur du Christ at Holy Family Catholic School.
Senior Maddie Junkin had 12 kills, eight digs and four aces for the Saints (10-4), who have won six straight matches. Senior Kate Clemens added 17 assists and four aces.
“It was fun to get all five seniors on the court,” Coeur du Christ coach Natalie Kiefer said.
Coeur du Christ returns to action Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. in the championship match of the 1A District tournament at North Idaho College, where the Saints will play the winner of Monday’s match between Mullan (2-8) and Kootenai (2-11) for a berth to state.
