PREP VOLLEYBALL: Clark Fork advances with shutdown of Genesis Prep

I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | October 18, 2025 5:20 PM

CLARK FORK — Coming off a 2A District 1-2 tournament first round loss, Clark Fork needed a nearly perfect performance to bounce back into form — and with the season on the line, they did just that.

Freshman Kiylah Anderson surpassed 400 career assists with a 21-assist performance to go along with a team-high eight aces, senior Aurora Lane recorded a tied for team-high eight kills on an error-free 10 attacks, and the No. 3 Lady Cats left no doubt in a sweep of the No. 4 Lady Jaguars (25-11, 25-11, 25-7) on Saturday afternoon in a loser-out district tournament game at Clark Fork High.

Lane chipped in two aces of her own, senior Piper Scarlett had five aces, and sophomore Elyssa Raynor produced a career-high four aces on an 8-for-9 effort from behind the service line. Freshman Vanessa Rogier added two aces, eight kills and three assists in the winning effort for Clark Fork, which led from start to finish and had a .471 team hitting percentage.

In the third set, the Lady Cats posted a perfect sideout percentage, which means Genesis Prep did not record a single point from their own service line.

"We went into it knowing that we had to bring down our attack errors; we've been really honing in on that in practice and it paid off," Clark Fork High head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said. "The girls were focused, they were disciplined, and they were hungry to run the kind of offense they know they're capable of."

Junior Nora-Jean Hoy contributed seven kills and two aces, Scarlett five kills for Clark Fork (9-9), which will play another 2A District 1-2 loser-out game against No. 2 Wallace (13-8) on Monday at 7 p.m. in North Idaho College's Christianson Gymnasium.

The Lady Cats and Lady Miners have faced off three times already this season, with Wallace winning all three matches by scores of 3-2, 3-1, and 3-0.

No. 1 Lakeside (15-1), whose only loss on the season is to Clark Fork, defeated Wallace in five sets to advance directly to the district championship match on Wednesday, also set to be held at North Idaho College.
