A Soccer: C-Falls boys move to semifinals

COLUMBIA FALLS — Brady Bell and Jack Harris scored as Columbia Falls defeated Lone Peak 2-0 in the State A boys soccer quarterfinals Saturday at Flip Darling Memorial Field.

Bell found the opener on an unassisted tally in the 22nd minute, then Harris doubled the advantage early in the second half. 

“On the roster we only have two boys with actual playoff experience.  Today was an invaluable experience for everybody else,” Wildcats coach O’Brien Byrd said. “They managed the postseason nervousness and jitters to survive and win against a very talented number two seed from the east. Very proud of the boys, we live to fight one more week.” 

Brady Heitz made seven saves for Columbia Falls to keep the clean sheet. 

The Wildcats now host Polson in the semifinals Saturday.

WHITEFISH — Jack Oehlerich scored twice and added an assist as Whitefish downed Hamilton at Smith Fields. 

Oehlerich scored his goals six minutes apart midway through the first half to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 halftime lead. 

Kyler Jonson tallied the third goal in the first minute out of the halftime break. Jonson has four goals in two games in the playoffs. 

The Bulldogs host Stevensville in the semifinals next weekend.
