A Libby man is facing multiple charges following a recent domestic incident.

Ronald Wayne Pilson Jr., 36, is charged with two felony counts of assault with a weapon, one felony count of criminal endangerment and misdemeanor driving under the influence, third offense.

Pilson’s next court appearance is scheduled in Justice Court at 1 p.m.  Wednesday.

According to the probable cause statement by county officer Ben Fisher, Deputy Chris Pape was called to a residence on Kootenai Vista Court at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9. It was for an assault with a weapon and Pilson was said to have a pistol and had placed it next to another person’s head.

Two other officers arrived and a blue Camaro driven by Pilson took off from the residence. The officers stopped the car and detained Pilson.

Deputy Fisher spoke with some of the people who were at the scene of the incident.

One individual said he was at another person’s place, having just returned from elk hunting with a woman’s son. The man said Pilson yelled profanities at them. The man went to Pilson’s vehicle and told him to leave. Pilson then allegedly pulled a pistol and put it to the man’s head. The man then took the gun from Pilson. As he stepped away, Pilson attempted to run him over, but the man jumped out of the way, according to court documents.

The alleged female victim said Pilson called her vulgar names. When the defendant and Pilson fought, she tried to break it up. 

Deputy Fisher then spoke to Pilson. The defendant said he didn’t have a gun and denied trying to strike the man with his vehicle. The officer smelled a strong odor of alcohol. Pilson said he had two beers.

Deputy Pape took Pilson to the county jail and Fisher spoke to a neighbor who had seen some of the altercation. The neighbor said Pilson appeared to be the one who started the incident.

According to the affidavit, Pilson refused to a field sobriety test, but did agree to provide a blood sample.

The court filing said Pilson had two prior DUI convictions in 2011 and 2018.

Court records indicate Pilson received a suspended sentence in 2020 following a deal where he pleaded guilty to assault. He received a deferred sentence in 2011 after he pleaded guilty to criminal possession of dangerous drugs.
