Coeur du Christ 38 Wallace 18
SILVERTON — Junior running back Jon Denke ran for three touchdowns, two in the first quarter for the Saints in a North Star League win over the Miners at the Sather Field Athletic Complex.
A Wallace fumble on the opening drive gave the Saints an early opportunity to steal momentum, and Wallace’s defense struggled to respond.
Denke scored on runs of 19 and 2 yards in the first quarter for Coeur du Christ (6-1, 2-0 NSL), which is in its second year as a program. He also scored on a 65-yard run in the fourth quarter.
The Miners had a shot to tie the game but couldn’t put the ball in the end zone after a 95-yard drive that began in the third quarter and carried well into the fourth.
Sophomore quarterback Cooper Miller ran for two touchdowns and ran for another for Wallace, which hosts Lakeside on Friday.
The Miners will have to win that game and get some help from Clark Fork if they want to clinch a share of the NSL title. The Wampus Cats host Coeur du Christ. Should the Miners find themselves in second place, they are still in prime position to get into the 1A playoffs, due to the number of at-large bids, which are decided by MaxPreps rankings.

KELLOGG FOOTBALL

Grangeville 54 Kellogg 6
GRANGEVILLE — The Bulldogs moved to 5-4, 3-1 in the Central Idaho League with a win over the Wildcats at Grangeville High.
The Wildcats, starting their third quarterback of the season, couldn’t find any offensive rhythm until Andrew Lewis connected with Draedan Taylor for their only score of the game.
Kellogg will host Priest River this Friday. A win would spoil the Spartans’ chance to clinch an outright CIL title but wouldn’t propel the ‘Cats into the playoffs.
