Hughes, a senior defender, has nine goals and six assists on the season for the Panthers, who enter this week’s state 4A soccer tournament as the No. 1 seed. “He’s been a rock for us at center back, for a defense that have given up an astonishing two goals this season, one to Coeur d’Alene and one to Sandpoint,” Coeur d’Alene Charter coach Craig Daigle said. “He’s always a threat offensively for us off corner kicks and he’s the vocal and emotional leader for us.”
