The Bigfork Valkyries are heading to the Class A state semifinals after posting back-to-back postseason victories, including a 3–0 quarterfinal win over Stevensville on Saturday.
Paeten Gunlock continued her standout playoff form, scoring the opening goal and assisting another as Bigfork controlled possession and tempo throughout the match. Gunlock’s early strike gave the Valkyries a 1–0 halftime lead before she set up Brynn Bagley for a second-half finish that doubled the margin. Sofie Albiero added the final goal late in the match to secure the shutout.
The victory followed a hard-fought 2–1 play-in win over Whitefish earlier in the week. Gunlock once again opened the scoring, finding the net in the 20th minute. Gwenna Lustig extended the lead early in the second half before Whitefish converted a penalty in stoppage time. Bigfork goalkeeper Irelynd Vigil made four saves to preserve the win, while the Valkyries edged the Bulldogs in total shots, 8–7.
With the pair of playoff wins, Bigfork advances to face Livingston (Park) in next week’s Class A semifinal at Park High School on Saturday, October 25 at 12 p.m.
