PREP VOLLEYBALL: Priest River downs Grangeville to advance to district title match
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 months AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | October 22, 2025 5:15 PM

Burgess-Duquette continued her stellar sophomore campaign by contributing a tied for team-high 12 digs and a tied for team-high two aces. Senior Toni Marinello and junior Ragyn Turner matched those dig and ace totals and Turner added eight kills of her own for Priest River, which closed out the first set on an 11-3 run, captured the second set with a late 11-2 run, and won the fourth set after an 18-7 scoring run.
On defense, junior Rylee Dixon registered a team-high seven block assists, Storro six block assists, senior Kenadie Kingery five block assists and senior Aleigha Jensen four block assists and six kills in the winning effort.
Priest River (15-2) will travel to Andrews Gymnasium to face No. 1 Kellogg (19-1) in the 3A District 1-2 championship match on Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Spartans are looking to book their ticket to state and avenge 3-0 and 3-1 regular season losses to the Lady Wildcats, which went undefeated in CIL play this season. For the losing team, they'll face the winner of Grangeville (10-12) and No. 4 Orofino (9-11) at home on Friday for a chance to go directly to the 3A State Championship as the league has two full bids this season.
