Spikers split in conference matches last week

The Columbia Falls girls volleyball team beat Libby last week, but lost a heartbreaker to Polson by just four points in the last set.

Against Libby Oct. 14, they won in straight sets at home, 25-15, 25-17, 25-12.

On Oct. 16 they faced off against the Lady Pirates, losing in five, 21-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-18, 11-15.

Against the Pirates the Wildkats racked up 52 kills, 11 aces and 94 digs along with 46 assists.

But they had no blocks. Rylee Sweeney led the squad with 13 kills and Annabelle Middlesworth had 11. Peyton Ross came off the bench and had 12. Jezanie Brooks had 37 assists.

Against Libby, the Kats had 35 kills, 10 aces, seven blocks and 52 digs.

Middlesworth led the squad with 17 kills, Sweeney had seven, Brooks had 33 assists.

The Kats traveled to Ronan Tuesday and then have a home match against Bigfork Thursday. It’s senior night for both the volleyball team and the cross country team.  Varsity starts about 7:15 p.m
